Junior School Council
The Junior School Council (JSC) & The Green Team (School Sustainability Team) provides students at Brunswick North Primary School with a valued leadership opportunity. In term 1 of each year students in years 1 to 6 elect two of their classmates to JSC & The Green Team to assist the Principal, staff and school community on matters of school improvement.
JSC & The Green Team representatives provide a voice for all students regarding matters that affect them. They attend meetings, report back to their classes, and implement initiatives which raise student awareness of programs which make a positive difference to the lives of others. JSC & The Green Team also provides a forum to plan and implement various recreational, educational and fundraising activities for students during the year.
Junior School Council & The Green Team aims to:
- Develop skills in leadership and negotiation;
- Provide the opportunity for students to participate in decision-making which directly affects them;
- Provide an avenue for the children to voice their opinions and ideas in a formal, structured way;
- Involve students in fundraising activities for the school and for charities;
- Develop citizenship and a sense of student responsibility.
