Community & Family Engagement

At Brunswick North Primary School, we celebrate the strong, collaborative relationships between our school, families and the wider community.

Our school forms a strong and integral part of the vibrant Brunswick community. Brunswick North Primary School values and actively seeks community partnerships and input.

Our most important ties are with our families.  We know the closer we work together, the better the outcomes we achieve for our students. Your involvement enriches our school community and enhances the educational experience for all students. By establishing a connected school community, it is hoped parents feel they can approach school leadership to share an idea, or discuss a concern.

Get involved

There are many ways families can be involved and make a valuable contribution to Brunswick North Primary School. This can be as simple as dropping into ‘The Wick Café for coffee on Friday, attending a school assembly, or signing up for a shift as classroom helper. We understand that modern family life is busy and want to make volunteering opportunities as simple and rewarding as possible for our families.

No special skills are needed – just your enthusiasm.

Volunteer for a school event

The School run a wide range of events each year, designed to enrich and enhance learning opportunities for students. Parent volunteers are vital to the success of these events. At the start of each school year, a Calendar of School Events is published on Compass and in the School Newsletter.

Events include:

  • Open Streets Program (once per Term)
  • Working Bees (twice per year)
  • Sports Day
  • The Biennale (Art Show)
  • School Concert
  • Coro De Bambini (Italian Children’s Choir)

Sign up for a shift at The 'Wick

The ‘Wick Café is open every Friday, from 8.15am to 9.45am. The ‘Wick is staffed by parent volunteers and families contribute baked goods for sale.

The ‘Wick is where parents and students can meet each week socially. It supports the creation of friendship and connectedness to the school. All money raised goes straight back to the School.

… or join a subcommittee

Subcommittees at Brunswick North Primary School are more than just an opportunity to help out – volunteering on a subcommittee is a constructive way to make positive change at the school. These are the spaces where key decisions are made, where the future of the school is shaped, and where you can be part of creating a community that reflects the values and experiences you want for your kids. It’s a fun and rewarding way to get involved and a chance to meet new friends and make a lasting difference in your child’s school experience.
